The buildup of uric acid causes Gout, and the problem usually affects the feet and specifically the big toe. Individuals with gout have swelling and pain the foot joints and also experience a sudden and intense pain. Several factors such as metabolism or blood disorder could lead to gout. Too much alcohol intake or eating a lot of salt-cured meat, shellfish, and sweet juices produce too much of uric acid and cause gout.
Caring for Ankle Pain
The first-line of treatment for ankle pain is RICE – rest, ice, compression, and elevation. An individual needs to avoid putting weight on the ankle and move it as little as possible. Putting ice pack for at least three to five days reduces the swelling and numb pain. Wrapping injured ankle with an elastic bandage and keeping the ankle raised above heart level provide relief from the pain. Taking over-the-counter drugs such as ibuprofen also provides relief from pain and swelling.
