Dr. Sanders is board certified in orthopaedic surgery with a subspecialty certificate in trauma. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry in 1996 from the University of Texas at Austin with highest honors, and his medical degree in 2000 from UT Southwestern School of Medicine. He also completed his general orthopedics residency there from 2000-2005. In 2006, Dr. Sanders completed an Orthopaedic Trauma Traveling Fellowship — which included specialized training in Germany and New Zealand. These coveted fellowships convey a higher level of experience and expertise in a specific specialty of orthopedic surgery.
Following his fellowship, Dr. Sanders spent two years as Medical Director of Orthopaedic Trauma for Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston (a Level I Trauma Center). From 2009 to 2011, he worked with the Orthopaedic Trauma Division of Acute Surgical Care. He has lectured at multiple conferences in orthopedics and has been published in select orthopedic journals. He is currently a Fellow member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, an active member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, and a Diplomate Member of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
